Nosotros para finalizar el 2019 y como no teníamos prevista ninguna escapada hasta la primavera del año que viene, nos decidimos por hacer un ultimo viaje este año y aprovechamos en el mes de diciembre para irnos. Me gustaba mucho la idea de las ciudades europeas famosas por sus mercadillos navideños pero lo descarté porque una ciudad al norte de Europa es igual a frio y Julia aun es muy pequeña y no quería que estuviese expuesta a temperaturas tan bajas y tampoco quería una ciudad que nos llevase mucho tiempo verla ni que supusiera dejarnos cosas que ver por poder ir únicamente un fin de semana. Por ello barajando distintas posibilidades me decidí por Oporto ya que era una ciudad en la que la temperatura se mantenía sobre los 15º en Diciembre, es asequible para visitarla durante un fin de semana y además esta bastante cerca de Madrid, por ello me gustó la idea de ir a allí.

We to end 2019 and as we had not planned any getaway until the spring of next year, we decided to make one last trip this year and we took advantage of the month of December to leave. I really liked the idea of European cities famous for their Christmas markets but I discarded it because a city in northern Europe is equal to cold and Julia is still very small and I didn’t want it to be exposed to such low temperatures and I didn’t want a city that it took us a long time to see her or that she supposed to leave us things to see because we could only go for a weekend. That is why considering different possibilities I decided on Porto since it was a city where the temperature was maintained above 15º in December, it is affordable to visit it during a weekend and it is also quite close to Madrid, so I liked the idea to go there.
Aunque es una ciudad que conocía la verdad es que la primera vez no me gustó nada, me pareció muy sucia y poco cuidada. Realmente fue una decepción, pero he de decir que he vuelto reconciliada con ella.
Puede haya sido por la época del año (la otra vez fui en verano) en la que hemos ido pero he vuelto realmente contenta. Al contrario que la otra vez he sentido que la ciudad estaba limpia y muy muy cuidada dentro del aire decadente que la caracteriza.
En esta ocasión nos decidimos a ir desde Madrid en coche ya que pensamos que entre unas cosas y otras se nos iba a ir el mismo tiempo yendo en avión, y sobre todo con un bebé. Algo que se debe tener en cuenta para viajar a Portugal en coche es que allí la mayor parte de carreteras son peajes y no puedes pagar todos de forma manual, sino que debes disponer de una tarjeta oficial con saldo para que cada vez que pases y se registre tu matricula te vayan quitando la parte correspondiente y no te llegue una multa a casa. La tarjeta que nosotros adquirimos fue la Tollcard con un saldo de 20€ que fue suficiente para la ida, la vuelta y lo que nos movimos por la zona.

Although it is a city that knew the truth is that the first time I did not like anything, I found it very dirty and poorly maintained. It was really a disappointment, but I have to say that I have become reconciled with her.
It may have been for the time of the year (the other time I was in summer) where we have gone but I have become really happy. Unlike the other time I have felt that the city was clean and very well cared for within the decadent air that characterizes it.
On this occasion we decided to go from Madrid by car since we thought that between some things and others we were going to go the same time by plane, and especially with a baby. Something that must be taken into account to travel to Portugal by car is that most of the roads are tolls there and you cannot pay all manually, but you must have an official card with balance so that every time you pass and you register your registration you will remove the corresponding part and do not get a fine home. The card that we acquired was the Tollcard with a balance of € 20 that was enough for the first leg, the return and what we moved around the area.

Con el coche desde casa tardábamos como cinco horas y media en ir a la puerta del apartamento que reservamos en Airbnb, os dejo también el link del apartamento que elegí y el enlace a un descuento de 34€ si reserváis a través de este y es vuestra primera reserva con Airbnb. Teniendo a Julia pensamos que la mejor opción era un apartamento ya que te permite mayor libertad a la hora de hacer su comida.

El apartamento estaba muy bien ubicado, muy cerca del Puente Don Luis I y de la estación de San Bento por lo que no se hacia nada pesado moverte a un punto u otro, cosa que es de agradecer porque Oporto se caracteriza por sus interminables cuestas, algo que a nosotros no nos supuso un problema por lo que os digo.
The apartment was very well located, very close to the Don Luis I Bridge and the San Bento station so it was not heavy to move to one point or another, which is welcome because Porto is characterized by its endless slopes, something that we did not pose a problem for what I say.
Decidimos que además de Oporto queríamos ver otros dos puntos muy concretos que nos pillaban de camino iríamos primero a estos para luego no tiene que estar el último día apurados. Estos dos puntos eran Aveiro y Costa Nova de donde no tengo fotos porque no paraba de llover 🙁
En primer lugar fuimos a Aveiro ya que tenía un sitio apuntado para comer y llegábamos allí sobre la una y media por lo que era buena hora y además con Julia tampoco queríamos demorarnos mucho puesto que ella esta acostumbrada a comer sobre esa hora. El sitio se llama O Telheiro, es un restaurante que esta cerca de uno de los canales por los que esta ciudad es famosa y la verdad es que comimos muy bien y a buen precio. El trato fue excepcional los camareros eran muy simpáticos y nos sentimos muy a gusto. Abajo del todo os dejo otro enlace al restaurante de la pagina de Tripadvisor.
Después de comer tranquilamente nos pusimos en marcha para dar una vuelta. Tuvimos un poco de mala suerte durante el fin de semana ya que durante el viernes y el domingo estuvo lloviendo, lo bueno es que no era una lluvia fuerte y te permitía dar una vuelta con el paraguas y así no terminar empapado.
Después de comer y dar una vuelta por Aveiro nos fuimos a probar suerte a Costa Nova. Desde Aveiro a Costa Nova se tarda en llegar como diez minutos aproximadamente. En esta zona de costa queríamos ver el mar y las típicas casitas de colores del paseo marítimo. Esto último fue un fallo en toda regla, se hizo de noche muy deprisa y fue imposible poder verlas en condiciones… Pero bueno, en este viaje pensamos en que sería buena idea hacer dentro de un tiempo un road trip por la costa de Portugal por lo que tendremos otra ocasión de verlas seguro. Aun así, pudimos disfrutar de un ratito muy agradable viendo el mar que estaba muy bravo y de hacer unas fotitos con Baby Julia.
Tras disfrutar de las vistas pusimos rumbo a Oporto y una vez llegamos y subimos todo el equipaje al apartamento dejamos el coche en un parking muy cerca del piso que nos costó 23 euros al día. Después de haber organizado todo bajamos andando a la ribera del rio Duero para ver el Puente Don Luis I iluminado por la noche y buscar un sitio para tomar un vinito y cenar.
We decided that in addition to Porto we wanted to see two other very specific points that caught us on the way we would go first to these and then do not have to be in the last day in a hurry. These two points were Aveiro and Costa Nova where I have no photos because it did not stop raining 🙁
First we went to Aveiro since I had a place to eat and we got there about half past one, so it was a good time and also with Julia we didn’t want to take too long since she is used to eating at that time. The site is called O Telheiro, it is a restaurant that is close to one of the channels through which this city is famous and the truth is that we ate very well and at a good price. The treatment was exceptional the waiters were very friendly and we felt very comfortable. Below I leave another link to the restaurant on the Tripadvisor page.
After eating quietly we set off to take a walk. We had a bit of bad luck during the weekend since it was raining during Friday and Sunday, the good thing is that it was not a heavy rain and allowed you to take a walk with the umbrella and thus not end up soaked.
Cenamos en un restaurante con vistas al puente que no fue barato, pero sabes de ante mano que si quieres comer en una zona así vas a pagar el sitio y sus vistas y por ello no nos importaba que nos tomasen un poco el pelo. La comida estaba buena y nos dieron mucha cantidad por lo que al final inevitablemente sobró mucha comida, se pasan un montón con las cantidades estos portugueses 🙂 El restaurante se llama Chez Lapin. Os dejo enlace a la web de Tripadvisor donde aparece y aquí otro restaurante que tenía tambien muy buena pinta llamado Restaurante Casario.
Cuando terminamos volvimos dando un paseo tranquilamente al apartamento para descansar que teníamos que coger fuerzas para el sábado, el día grande del viaje que os contaré en el siguiente post de Oporto.
We had dinner at a restaurant overlooking the bridge that was not cheap, but you know beforehand that if you want to eat in an area like this you will pay for the place and its views and for that reason we did not care if they took a little hair. The food was good and they gave us a lot of food so in the end inevitably a lot of food, they spend a lot with the amounts these Portuguese 🙂 The restaurant is called Chez Lapin. When we finished we went back to the apartment for a leisurely walk to rest that we had to gain strength for Saturday, the big day of the trip that I will tell you in the next post of Porto.
